# Step Notes
0 Setup
  • Figure out how you will backup your save.
  • Setup your Options.
1 Getting preliminary achievements:
  • Do not click the cookie yet.
  • Do not purchase any upgrades yet.
  • Do not ascend yet.
  1. Name your bakery "Orteil", then change your bakery name to something else.
  2. Click one of the tiny cookies in the Stats tab.
  3. Click the news ticker at least 50 times.
  4. Click the box between the "What's in a name" and "Tabloid addiction" achievements.
  5. Resize the window to dunk your cookie into the milk.
2 Getting the Hardcore and True Neverclick achievements:
  • Do not click the cookie yet.
  • Do not purchase any upgrades yet.
  • Do not ascend yet.
  1. Click Golden Cookies until you have enough cookies to buy a Cursor. Continue clicking Golden Cookies for the rest of the game.
  2. Buy buildings when you can afford them. Prioritize more advanced buildings and continue buying buildings for the rest of the game.
  3. Sell one of your Grandmas.
  4. Once you get 1 million cookies, you will get the True Neverclick achievement. Once you get 1 billion cookies, you will get the Hardcore achievement and can go to step #3.
3 General progression:
  • You can now click the cookie whenever you want.
  • You can now purchase upgrades whenever you want.
  • You can ascend after you reach the end of this step at least once.
  1. Begin buying upgrades. Continue buying available upgrades for the rest of the game.
  2. Use 3 sugar lumps to upgrade your farms, temples, and wizard towers to unlock minigames.
  3. Select the spirits in your Pantheon that best support your style of gameplay.
  4. Cast a spell whenever your magic meter is full until you have cast at least 999 spells. You can cast "Diminish Ineptitude" to avoid negative effects.
  5. Plant seeds in your Garden in specific patterns to potentially unlock new seeds.
  6. Use your sugar lumps to upgrade your buildings, prioritizing more advanced buildings.
  7. Ascend for the 1st time when you have at least 300 cursors and you will gain at least 1,324 prestige levels.
4 Ascension Loop:
  • Ascend when you feel your progression has slowed down too much.
  • You can now purchase Season Switcher cookies.
  1. Start by purchasing the following upgrades:
    • Legacy
    • Heralds
    • Heavenly cookies
    • How to bake your dragon
    • Permanent upgrade slot 1, which will hold your highest Cursor upgrade that gives +X cookies for each non-cursor object owned
    • Season switcher
  2. Click the cookie until you can purchase a Cursor and a Grandma, then you will quickly return to your previous state. Continue general progression as in step #3.
  3. Reset your Pantheon and continue your Garden progression.
  4. Progress your dragon by sacrificing cookies and buildings. Make sure you will have at least 1 building after sacrifice. You can quickly re-purchase buildings that you sacrificed due to their decreased cost.
  5. Purchase seasonal upgrades by using the Season Switcher:
    1. Never switch to Business Day, as it does not provide any upgrades and increases the cost of future season switches.
    2. Switch to Valentine's Day when you have at least 1 sextillion cookies in your bank and can produce more than 50 quintillion cookies in a few hours. This will allow you to unlock all Valentine's Day cookie upgrades and not need to switch to this season until you ascend again.
    3. Switch to Christmas, unlock every santa upgrade, and click every reindeer that appears.
    4. Switch to Easter and click every golden/wrath cookie that appears to unlock additional upgrades. Each cookie in a cookie storm has a chance to unlock an upgrade.
    5. Switch to Halloween and pop wrinklers whenever they start withering the big cookie.
  6. Ascend again when you feel your progression has slowed down too much and purchase additional ascension upgrades.
